As a globally operating company, Ascom places a significant emphasis on its environmental, social, and governance responsibilities (ESG). Ascom is firmly committed to taking this responsibility as the foundation for our partnerships with employees, customers, and partners. To this end, Ascom diligently engages in various ESG initiatives and maintains an ongoing commitment to continuous improvement.
Our goals in ESG are defined by the Ascom Board of Directors. Its execution is directed by an internal ESG-Taskforce, a cross-functional, collaborative team. This group has defined the midterm roadmap for ESG-related topics, encourage ongoing exchange across divisions, and propel projects forward in key areas.
In 2022 the Executive Committee defined the long-term goal in sustainability to strive for carbon-neutral by the end of 2040 and Net Zero Target Year of 2050
Ascom has implemented a new Sustainability Directive as of 1 January 2021, which applies to all employees worldwide and includes company-specific sustainability standards and objectives.
In accordance with the Sustainability Directive, Ascom has worked toward a structured standard for sustainability reporting. The Sustainability Report 2023 has been written with reference to the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Standards.
Based on this overarching goal, we have defined focus topics in the areas of environment, social and governance. On the one hand, the focus topics support the corporate strategy, and, on the other hand, they are the key areas in which Ascom can have the greatest impact. For further information, please consult page 17 in our Sustainability Report.
Ascom continually enhances the accuracy and maturity of our sustainability work. Independent ratings from EcoVadis, Inrate, and Ethifinance reflect our improvement and offer guidance for further progress. We also completed our registration with the Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi) and are now preparing for the validation phase. We continue to optimize the environmental performance of our products. Updated repair standards for DECT and VoWiFi devices reduced material use and extended product lifecycles.
In 2010, Ascom became a member of the UN Global Compact, and is fully committed to promoting the key principles. Our Company is also governed by the Ascom Code of Ethical Business Conduct, which forms the basis of our corporate culture.
In 2015 the General Assembly of the United Nations launched the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) in order to reach the 2030 Agenda of Sustainable Development. The SDGs are a set of goals to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure prosperity for all.
